TANZANIAN COOKING CLASS

Kuku mchuzi, chapati, wali maharage, mtori… Even if you have no idea what we’re talking about right now, once you’ve finished our local cooking class, at least one of these Tanzanian dishes will have no more secrets for you! We start with a visit to the local market to buy all the ingredients, after which our guide welcomes you into her home to cook together and share stories.

TANZANIAN COOKING CLASS ITINERARY

Today we do things local style, so you’ll be picked up at your hotel in a bajaji (local tuk-tuk) that will drive you to the meeting point with your guide. After introductions and deciding which dish it is you’d like to prepare, your first stop will be the local market in order to buy all the ingredients. Don’t be shy to ask questions about everything you see at the market, as there’s quite a few things that you might not regularly see at home. Once you have everything you need to prepare your meal, you’ll take another bajaji and head to your guide’s home. It’s a great way to see how local people live, and to really cook in the same way most Tanzanians do.

You’ll prepare everything from A to Z, and once it’s finished of course you’ll get the chance to taste! At the end off the class, you’ll be taken back to your hotel, once again in a bajaji.

This experience takes half a day and can be organized in the morning or the afternoon.
