6-DAY SAFARI: LAKE MANYARA, TARANGIRE, SERENGETI AND NGORONGORO CRATER

Visit the 4 most famous parks of northern Tanzania in 1 safari for a maximum chance of seeing the big 5. Lake Manyara and Tarangire national park are both famous for their elephants, but both offer such different landscapes that it’s definitely worth visiting both. Lake Manyara is also famous for its tree climbing lions, which make it worth a visit by itself. The Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater are home to so many species the list would be too long, but you’re likely to see buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, lions and if you’re lucky maybe even leopards and rhinoceros. Twende! Let’s go!

During several parts of the year, this safari will allow you to witness the great migration, either with the itinerary that you’ll find below, either with a few small changes. As the exact location of the great migration changes constantly throughout the year, we’ll send you our suggestions in your personalized offer.

SAFARI ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and transfer to Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), our driver will be waiting for you. He’ll drive you to your hotel in Arusha in about 1-1,5 hour. Once arrived, you can finally rest after your long flight and start taking it all in. If there’s enough time, you can spend some time in the center of Arusha, or simply relax at your hotel. If you arrive early, we can even arrange an activity for you during the day (to be booked in advance). We’re more than happy to help you with information about places to go, where to eat and other practical arrangements.

Meals: dinner.

Day 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

We’ll pick you up at your accommodation in Arusha and drive about 2 hours to Lake Manyara National Park. You’ll have lunch in the park and spend the rest of the day game driving. You’ll be able to see animals such as zebra, giraffe and elephants but also countless bird species. Lake Manyara is also famous for its tree climbing lions, so keep an eye out for them! We’ll bring you to your accommodation in Mto wa Mbu or Karatu, not far from the park, in the late afternoon.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road. You have quite a bumpy ride ahead of you today, as you’ll have to drive through Ngorongoro conservation area before reaching the entrance of Serengeti National Park. You’ll have lunch and the rest of the afternoon is reserved for a stunning game drive through the central part of the Serengeti. You’ll witness an extraordinary nature, as well as an abundance of animals like lions, gnus, Thomson gazelles and zebras. In the evening we’ll bring you to your accommodation, where you’ll have dinner and an early sleep.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

You’ll start the day with breakfast at your accommodation, after which it’s time to spend the entire day game driving. You can fine-tune the exact planning for the day together with your guide, as your safari is fully private. So don’t hesitate to tell him all your wishes! Whether you want to see a specific animal, start the day at a certain time, or anything else, your guide will tell you what’s possible and do his absolute best to make you happy! You’ll spend another night in the Serengeti, in the same accommodation as the night before.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

The morning is dedicated to another game drive in the central part of the Serengeti, and we can plan the day keeping in mind your wishes. Our top tip: get up early to witness the Serengeti at sunrise (from your accommodation or during a short game drive), have breakfast at your accommodation and spend the rest of the morning game driving. In the afternoon, you’ll start heading back towards Ngorongoro conservation area, with the chance to stop and see more wildlife along the way.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Another early start today! After breakfast you’ll head towards Ngorongoro crater. You’ll enter the crater over the steep path that leads down. Get ready to take in the amount of different animals you’re about to see – only giraffes and a few other species are absent, but other than that the wildlife density in this area is nothing less but impressive. You’re almost guaranteed to see large numbers of gnus (wildebeest), zebras, buffaloes and gazelles and chances are you’ll be able to spot rhinos and leopards. You’ll leave the park after lunch to drive back to Karatu or Mto wa Mbu. You’ll sleep here and dinner is served at the accommodation.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 7: Tarangire National Park – Arusha

The last day of your safari is dedicated to Tarangire National Park. After breakfast, you’ll drive from your accommodation in Karatu or Mto wa Mbu to the park for a beautiful game drive. Tarangire is most famous for its big herds of elephants, but there’s countless other species as well. You’ll have lunch in the park and drive to Arusha in the afternoon.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 8: Transfer from Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and departure

Our driver will pick you up at your accommodation and drive you to Kilimanjaro airport. We wish you a safe flight and hope you’ve had an unforgettable time!

Meals: breakfast.
