DISTANCES IN TANZANIA

Tanzania covers a surface of almost 950.000 km², which is almost 4 times the UK, almost 2 times France and 2,5 times Germany. The Serengeti alone is half the size of Belgium. The ‘main’ roads are usually paved but driving times can be about twice as long as you might expect. The roads in the parks or towards lesser visited destinations are unpaved and can get bumpy so driving times are even longer.

It’s easy to misjudge distances and especially driving times when you just look at a map, so below we want to give you an idea for the most common routes.

We keep these driving times in mind in all our offers and always make sure that your day-to-day itinerary makes sense. We want you to enjoy your safari and make sure you have enough time for quality game drives. When you visit parks, of course we also need to keep in mind opening hours as we are not allowed to drive in the parks between 6 PM and 6 AM. All our itineraries are adapted to these conditions, so you can be sure your safari is fully optimized to enjoy it as much as possible!

Driving times are estimated for dry season and in normal traffic.
