14 DAYS SAFARI, LOCAL CULTURE & ZANZIBAR
Combine a safari with discovering local culture and spend a few days on Zanzibar to rest after all those adventures.Â
You’ll start by exploring Moshi, the closest city to Kilimanjaro, and if you’re lucky you might get a glimpse of the highest mountain in Africa from there. You’ll even go for a hike on its lower parts. We’ll complete your itinerary with a refreshing plunge into the Kikuletwa hot springs and a guided visit of Moshi including a Tanzanian cooking class. Â
The 5-day safari is perfect for anyone who’s hoping to see all of the big five – lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and cape buffalo. You can find elephants in Lake Manyara or Tarangire National park, dozens of lions in the Serengeti and buffaloes more or less everywhere. Leopards and rhinoceros are a bit more difficult to find, with only a few dozen rhinos left in Ngorongoro crater, but we’ll do whatever we can to help make it happen. And of course there’s so many other species that are just as interesting, and of which you’ll be able to see plenty as well!Â
After your safari, you’ll fly to Zanzibar for 5 days on the beach. You can spend them simply relaxing or we can add some excursions if you feel a little bit more active.Â

ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and transfer to Moshi
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), our driver will be waiting for you. He’ll drive you to your hotel in Moshi in about 1 hour. Once arrived, you can finally rest after your long flight and start taking it all in. If there’s enough time, you can spend some time in the center of Moshi, or simply relax at your hotel. If you arrive early, we can even arrange an activity for you during the day (to be booked in advance). We’re more than happy to help you with information about places to go, where to eat and other practical arrangements.
Meals: dinner included.
Day 2: Half day relaxing & Tanzanian cooking classÂ
You’ll start the day with a bit of relaxing to recover from your flight and be well rested for your upcoming activities. After lunch, your guide for the day will pick you up at your accommodation. You’ll go to the market to buy groceries, because tonight you are the chef! Once you have bought everything, you will go to your guide’s house to prepare a typical Tanzanian dinner.Â

Day 3: Hike from Materuni to Shimbwe with coffee experience
Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Moshi around 9am and you drive to Materuni village, which takes around 45 minutes. After a fairly easy walk of 45 minutes (we advise you to wear good shoes because in case of rain it slips a little) you arrive at the waterfall. During your walk, your guide will explain more about Chagga culture, plants, etc. You can enjoy the view, and if you are not afraid of the cold, even swim. Then you continue the walk towards Shimbwe and the trail gets steeper in places. After about 2 hours you will arrive at the local guest house where you will enjoy a delicious fresh meal and the impressive views of Kilimanjaro (on a clear day). After or before the meal there is a coffee experience and after that we let you choose what you want to do. Stay a little longer in the guesthouse to rest and enjoy the view, take a short walk around the village of Shimbwe or go for another walk, e.g. to the start of Kilimanjaro National Park at about 1900 m altitude. You take the road back to Moshi around 4 p.m.
This excursion is also possible with overnight in Shimbwe.

Day 4: Kikuletwa hot springs
The hotsprings are a small oasis not far from the main road between Moshi and Arusha, and the perfect place to relax. And it’s not just the destination that matters, the drive to the hot springs is one that is well worth it too. We pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha in the morning and drive approximately 2 hours before reaching Kikuletwa Hot Springs. You’ll be leaving to drive to Arusha around 4 p.m., and it’s entirely up to you what to do in the meantime. Take a swim in the refreshing water (Surpriiiiise! The water is not as hot as you might expect, but very pleasant!), take a stroll around, watch the local boys and their jumps in spectacular water, or eat a local meal while you rest in the shade of palm and fig trees.

Day 5: Arusha – Lake Manyara or Tarangire National Park

Day 6: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road. You have quite a bumpy ride ahead of you today, as you’ll have to drive through Ngorongoro conservation area before reaching the entrance of Serengeti National Park. You’ll have lunch and the rest of the afternoon is reserved for a stunning game drive through the central part of the Serengeti. You’ll witness an extraordinary nature, as well as an abundance of animals like lions, gnus, Thomson gazelles and zebras. In the evening we’ll bring you to your accommodation, where you’ll have dinner and an early sleep.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.Â
Day 7: Serengeti National Park
You’ll start the day with breakfast at your accommodation, after which it’s time to spend the entire day game driving. You can fine-tune the exact planning for the day together with your guide, as your safari is fully private. So don’t hesitate to tell him all your wishes! Whether you want to see a specific animal, start the day at a certain time, or anything else, your guide will tell you what’s possible and do his absolute best to make you happy! You’ll spend another night in the Serengeti, in the same accommodation as the night before.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.Â
Day 8: Serengeti National Park
The morning is dedicated to another game drive in the central part of the Serengeti, and we can plan the day keeping in mind your wishes. Our top tip: get up early to witness the Serengeti at sunrise (from your accommodation or during a short game drive), have breakfast at your accommodation and spend the rest of the morning game driving. In the afternoon, you’ll start heading back towards Ngorongoro conservation area, with the chance to stop and see more wildlife along the way. We’ll provide dinner at your accommodation again.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.Â

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
The days starts early again today. After breakfast you’ll head towards Ngorongoro crater for the last day of your trip. You’ll enter the crater over the steep path that leads down. Get ready to take in the amount of different animals you’re about to see – only giraffes and a few other species are absent, but other than that the wildlife density in this area is nothing less but impressive. You’re almost guaranteed to see large numbers of gnus (wildebeest), zebras, buffaloes and gazelles and chances are you’ll be able to spot rhinos and leopards. You’ll have lunch in the park and drive back to Arusha after that.

Day 10: Flight to Zanzibar and transfer to beach hotel
Our driver will pick you up at your accommodation in Arusha and drive you to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. The flight is included in this package. Upon arrival, another driver will be waiting for you to drive you to your beach hotel. You have no other activities planned for today, so you can start enjoying the beach directly after arrival.
Day 11-13: Beach holiday
Spend your day at the beach and be just as active or lazy as you want! We can arrange extra activities for you if you wish or you can organize them directly through your hotel.
Day 14: Safari njema! Transfer to Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) for your flight home
Our driver will pick you up at your accommodation and drive you to Zanzibar airport. We wish you a safe flight and hope you’ve had an unforgettable time!Â
